This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24)

Hello! How have you all been? How is life moving throughout your every day? Life is life-with its ups and downs, keeping schedules, work, traffic, family, relationships, trying to navigate the crazy cost of living, etc… How does one maintain being “positive” or rejoice in such a chaotic world?
I find when life gets a little more crazy than normal, I really have to make a point to count my Blessings and Thank God for the big things, the little things, even some of the “bad” things (because hopefully there are lessons learned from them). Waking up in the morning is always a Blessing (as it beats the alternative!) As Believers, we are to Rejoice-we are to Rejoice in God as He is continually watching over us-as He is always present with us. God does not have to “show up”- He’s already right there with us. Every day is a gift and we should always be grateful and rejoice regardless of our experiences-as difficult as they may be. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Rejoicing is not like “fake happiness”. It does not mean smiling through pain; ignoring grief, or pretending bad things are good. It is the Believer making active choices to practice joy and gratitude-even during hardship. Our joy comes from God and His Son, Jesus. It is their constant, unfailing love that never changes-not even when life does so unexpectedly. When one rejoices, it makes our hearts full. It makes our hearts and souls glad. I also find that rejoicing teaches us compassion and empathy. When we delight ourselves in the goodness of God, we can offer compassion when the occasion calls for it because we have truly experienced the goodness of God; therefore we are able to share it. “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:15)
Rejoicing also helps one choose trust over fear when facing stress or uncertainty. It should remind us to take refuge in the Lord rather than ourselves, or others, or engage in any form of distractions. I know I have been very quick to call someone before going to God first. I mean let’s face it, people are tangible, animated. God is Spirit and Holy. Still… He is my Defense, my Protector, My Shelter. “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12) Rejoicing is not being “glassy-eyed”. It is more of an acknowledgment to honor God as He comes with us into our every day life.
I will continue to rejoice in God and Jesus! I’m sure there will be days I will not want to, but I will do my best to Thank God first thing in the morning. (However, there is a possibility that I will need Coffee first), but as long as I actively CHOOSE to rejoice in GOD, I know that the God I serve loves me, guides me and protects me. He is my Savior. He is always with me. His Spirit dwells within me which causes my relationship with Jesus to continually deepen-Hence, I rejoice. “Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” (Psalm 34:3)
Please continue to join me as we grow together with a Renewed Heart.
